File Manager – Upload Finished With Errors

Question Icon

I am trying to upload my images to the file manager. When I try to upload my images, A red error message that reads, “upload finished with errors” appears after I select the images I want to upload. How can I avoid this error?

When uploading images into your file manager, it is important to click on the folder you wish to save your images into. If you receive an “upload finished with errors” message you may be trying to upload your images into the “All document files” section of the file manager.

How do I send a quick message to parents without creating a newsletter?

Question Icon

I have a quick message I want to send out to parents right away.

No problem.  This is what we created eFlash for,  a quick email message that can be created quickly and sent out to parents for immediate delivery to their inbox.  Sports day cancelled due to bad weather or a reminder of school fees etc., turn these electronic messages around fast using eFlash.

See our guide on creating an eFlash Message here.

A parent is not receiving the newsletter, why?

Question Icon Parent/s have said they are not receiving the eNewsletter.

There are a few reasons a parent might not be receiving the newsletter.  The parent may have inadvertently unsubscribed. In the case of some email programmes (Hotmail, Live, Gmail etc.) the email may redirect to their spam or junk mail.  Or it may be something more than a spam filter, as in the case of their email address being listed as hard bounced in the system.  Once that email is listed as hard bounced ePublisher will no longer attempt to send to that email address.

What is the best way to upload multiple images to the newsletter?

Question Icon I get sent so many photos from the staff for inclusion in the newsletter, and I would like to show them all. What is the best way to display these groups of images?

There are 3 options available in the galleries area that have been created for showcasing galleries of images and creating one for your issue is so easy, done in just a few clicks. In the Tiled Gallery, Slide Show and Nested Galleries you can add a sub heading and a description so that the images are all contained, with information, within that one element.  The slideshow will allow the user to watch the images in a slideshow or click through at their own pace.  The tiled gallery and the Nested Gallery will show a thumbnail of each image. The user can click on an image in either the slideshow tiled gallery or nested gallery to enlarge the picture for easier viewing.

Can I send a newsletter to a specific group of parents?

Question Icon I want to create lists that I can deliver more specific messages to. For example, staff but not parents, or specific year levels.  What is the best way to go about this?

Having different subscriber lists for various classes, staff and community means you can send more direct messages to the relevant group/s.  For example, you may want only 2 lists, staff and parents.  Your newsletter can go out to both lists but what if you have a message specific to only the staff?  By having a list of staff you can choose to send only to staff.

By creating even more defined lists, for example a list for each year level, you can create messages specific to that list.  For e.g., a message about year 1 camp could be sent only to parents of year 1 students.  We have found that parents are more likely to read school messages and newsletters if they find the information relevant to them and their child/children.

Can I find out how many parents read the newsletter?

Question Icon I would like to present a report to the Principal on the readership of our electronic school newsletter.  Is there a way I can do that quickly and easily?

We have an in-depth statistics report live on your dashboard.  Here you will find information on your open rates and create reports that you can work from to increase engagement, to see how an eNewsletter Issue was received, see your stats at a glance, and more.

How do I add a video to the newsletter?

Question Icon I want to add video from the choir but I’m not very technical.  Can someone help me?

Using the video element to add videos to your newsletter couldn’t be easier with ePublisher doing all the work for you.  All you need to know is where the video file is in your computer to be able to locate it.  In only a few clicks you will have added the video element to your article.  The ePublisher application takes all the technical work out of it, including compressing it for web and converting it to all the relevant file formats so that it will show across all platforms.

See our guide on how to add a Video here.

What is the difference between elements, articles and issues?

Question Icon Can you explain to me the difference between elements, articles and issues?

There are currently 7 elements in ePublisher. Text block, galleries, videos, audio clip, attach & embed, quote block and tables. These elements are used to build an article. For example, the principal might use a video element, text block element and attach & embed elements to create the article “From the Principal”. Once that article is published (posted) it goes into a list of articles that are then used to create an issue – the issue houses all the articles within it and is the newsletters’ final stage before submission to Austnews.

So, in brief, the elements make up the articles that in turn make up the issue.  All article headings become part of the table of contents in the final newsletter so that the reader is able to click and jump to articles they have interest in.

Can I make a change to a deployed newsletter?

Question Icon I’ve noticed a date error in the newsletter that just went out to parents.  How can I fix it?

Even after the newsletter has been deployed, as an administrator, you can go into the live article and make text changes; fix up dates that have been submitted incorrectly, spelling errors, correct any wrong information etc.
Any parent reading it after that change has been made will see the corrected newsletter.  This can happen at any time, so even if you have left the office and you are at home, as long as you have your login and password  you can make the changes you need to.

What is a content creator?

Question Icon What is a content creator?

A content creator contributes articles in your eNewsletter issue.  Your school is full of potential content creators. Right now there is a classroom in your school working on art projects, or training for the sports finals. There are students working on their science experiments or a class on excursion to a local museum, the P and C committee are planning fund raising for your school, and so much more going on! They are gathering images, video and sound on their smartphones and iPads which could go towards creating dynamic and engaging newsletter issues. By identifying key staff members and giving them access to ePublisher to create articles for you there will never be a shortage of engaging, visually interesting content for your issues with no duplication of effort.
