Summary:
The Reports & Statistics area provides you with an insight into subscribers and their engagement with your newsletters, as well as providing you with delivery, click and open information. This feature is also a used as a tool to keep your data up to date and error free, such as incorrect email information, ensuring that your communication gets through to your subscribers.
Overview:
To access Statistics, click on the Statistics Icon in the Main Menu.
![]()
You will then be directed to the Reports & Statistics dashboard, which shows a snapshot of statistics of your newsletter deployments within a date range. This date range defaults to 7 days.
This Dashboard screen is broken down into 4 sections.
Tabs which show in depth information:

DASHBOARD – Shows a snapshot of statistics – defaulted to last 7 days. Here you can select your date range and click apply to view statistics graphically, at a glance.
RECENT ACTIVITY – A snap shot of all email related activity over the past 10 days. If you need to search for a specific recipient, enter the recipients email address into the search field and press enter. The Date is when the event occurred and the Type is the type of event. Click the plus symbol next to any listed event for more details.
OPENS – Represents the number of emails opened. The number of opens are not a reliable way to determine engagement levels, check “clicks” tab for accurate readership numbers on eNewsletters.
CLICKS – These are the recipients who have clicked on a link within your emails. (e.g. The link to open the schools’ newsletter) This is by far the best way to find out how many recipients have actually read your newsletter.
DELIVERED – The delivery is recorded when a sent email is accepted by the receiving server, however, this does not necessarily mean that the message reached the recipients inbox. Some users and some email applications may filter the email away from the inbox even though the email was delivered to (read: accepted by) the recipient email server.
If an email is indicated as delivered you can be certain that it was not deferred by the ISP.
BOUNCES – Bounced emails are either a permanent failure (hard bounce) or a temporary failure (soft bounce) to deliver the email, based on conditions with the recipient mail server. ePublisher will add hard bounces to an automatic suppression list, preventing further emails being sent out.
Find out more about hard and soft bounces here.
BLOCKS – Blocks happen when your message was rejected for a reason related to the message, not the recipient address. The ‘Reason’ on the block will clarify what the exact reason is.
SPAM REPORTS – Spam reports are triggered when the recipient clicks the spam button or puts your email into their spam folder within their email client such as Yahoo, Outlook/Hotmail or Gmail. ePublisher will add these to an automatic suppression list, preventing further emails being sent out.
INVALID EMAILS – An invalid email occurs when you attempt to send an email to an address that is formatted in a manner that does not meet the internet email format standards or the email does not exist at the recipient’s mail server. Typos are the most common reason for invalid emails.
UNSUBSCRIPTIONS – These are the people who have opted out of your emails list/s. ePublisher will add these to an automatic suppression list, preventing further emails being sent out. With the recipients consent, their addresses can be re-subscribed on the system.

The options you specify, will determine the data which appears within the charts below:

TOTAL SENT – Total number of emails sent in that time period
(Please note, the information is defaulted to show eNewsletters only.
Please use the filters to capture eFlash statistics)
Example – 2397 email addresses requested to receive newsletter

DELIVERED – Percentage of emails delivered to the recipient’s inbox.
Example – 2397 newsletters successfully accepted.

UNIQUE CLICKS – This is how many unique clicks occurred within your email. ePublisher delivers an email with a link to the eNewsletter online, therefore the unique clicks from eNewsletters represents how many recipients clicked through to read the eNewsletter. Please note that an eFlash appears, in its complete form, in the receiver’s inbox and therefore no unique clicks are recorded for them.
Example – 857 newsletters clicked through to the newsletter

BOUNCES – Records percentage of bounced emails.
Example – Bounced emails consist of 2 categories, Hard Bounce and Soft Bounce.
* Soft Bounce * email address exists but not contactable due to full mailbox,
* Hard Bounce * email address is invalid or does not exist
Find out more about hard and soft bounces here.

UNSUBSCRIBES – Records the percentage of unsubscribe requests
Example – Recipient has chosen not to receive communication

SPAM REPORTS – Records the percentage of emails being flagged as spam by the recipients email server.
Example – The recipient has marked the email as SPAM.
This information is also displayed in a graphical format: Roll your mouse over the graph to see daily activity.

Add or remove categories by un-checking the options below the graph:

Click the Download Graph icon in the top right hand corner of the screen to download the report to print or forward. The graph can be downloaded in various different formats.

The Top 5 Categories table will show you the most delivered based upon category, such as eNews Flash or Newsletter, depending upon your activity in the date range selected.
